Reverend Dr. Michael L. Mitchell is the senior pastor of Saint Stephen African Methodist Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, Florida. He was chosen to succeed Bishop Robert V. Webster as pastor of Saint Stephen in September, 1992, and with him came a fresh, vibrant anointing that has excited and ignited the congregation to a new spiritual high. He is the Chair of the Board of Examiners and Treasurer of the East Annual Conference.

Reverend Mitchell is actively involved in the social, economical, and educational needs of the community. He is excited about the implementation of future projects and ministries that will reach out and touch the hearts and souls of the people and also literally change their lives for the better. Reverend Mitchell is determined to achieve victory in the vision that God has given him. He is a Candidate for Episcopal Service in the African Methodist Episcopal Church as Bishop in 2016.
